Beach Cookie Mania

So I want to say thank you out there for being patient...
Just to let you know I completed the 400 cookies in 2 days and feel great about it!  I think I have the "cookies in mass" technique down, so bring it!
I left for Austin last week and after spending some fun time with my dear friend who lives out there, I started work.
I will say being on Texas soil gave me a warm, cozy feeling...which one could argue was just the effects of the copious amount of salsa I ate...or, possibly, the excruciating heat radiating my now-Yankee bones...but either way, cozy and warm.
I did observe, though, that (at least within Austin city limits) there has apparently been a resurgence of the rhinestone.  There were "fancy faux gems" everywhere: belts, sandals, purses...
You don't see a lot of rhinestones up here, although the gold-plated, nameplate necklaces that Jersey-girls seem to love definitely hold their own in the garish jewelry contest ;)
Now, back to cookies and stuff...
The theme for the Dell cookies was "beachy".
So I did board shorts...
Flip Flops...
Sand Pails...
and beach balls...
This is about 1/4 done with the bagging and tying with curling ribbon...

Lesson learned: don't underestimate the bagging process.  It took a long time.
So there you have a little glimpse into my latest big project.
I have been busy lately with stuff, but while we are on the subject of beach, I did this order a few weeks ago for a beach-themed wedding shower:
they also wanted some assorted cookies along with the sugar cookies...
I made Chocolate-toffee chip, Snickerdoodle and White chocolate Kit-Kat cookies...they were YUM!
they also ordered a version of this cake that I have made before.
So, there you go...I will tell you I am beached out...until next time :)

I'M TOTALLY IMPRESSED! That's a lot of mixing, cutting, piping, decorating, bagging, ribbon curling, etc. etc...

Lots of work, and not one beautiful detail lost! Glad you are back. :)

How's your hand? lol. You are so courageous to take that on, and they look great! I love the sand in the bucket too.

These look great!!! I know the feeling, I'm having to do 500 cookies in 2 days! I am still working on them, and I have to take them tonight! :) whew. And boy, my hands, arms, back are tired! Of course, yours look 10x better than mine. ahha.

You're right the packaging is a huge time eater. I add shredded paper to my cookie bags so that even adds more time to my schedule. Maybe I should rethink that. Your goodies turned out great. I can't believe you did so many in 2 days. You must be exhausted! Take a well deserved rest. :)

Whoa, that's a lot of cookies. Makes me feel bad about complaining I had to bake a few dozen for my brother.

They look GREAT!
I always underestimate how long the bagging will take. Rhinestones are getting big here too.

These look fantastic!! When I worked as a cookie decorator, I so remember orders like these. 100s of cookies a day, and those orders of 1000s. (A few in the tens of 1000s, never again.) I am absolutely imagining every curl of ribbon you had to do with great empathy.

Wow. You did it. And in two days! It's not the baking that takes time, it's the decorating and packaging. These are so adorable. Love the flip flops (which we used to call thongs over which my granddaughter has a laughing fit. No, Bobbie, thongs are underwear!)

I hope you are resting on your laurels this weekend. :)

As everyone has already said...I'm so impressed! And I know what you are talking about in concern to the rhinestones...they were everywhere! The heat must have made baking interesting...but I imagine you were in an air conditioned kitchen. I'm excited about finally having AC when we move down in a few weeks!

hahahaha you should see the rhinestones when the rodeos come around! i happen to live in san antonio, tx but used to live in austin. when the rodeo comes to town every one dresses up in their country duds and from head to toe are usually rhinestones! even the men!
