Indulge Me

So it has been a while since my last post...at least longer than usual.
It's the end of my beloved summer.  The kids go back to school on Tuesday and I am in mourning.
My littlest goes to Kindergarten this year.
So, while I have been busy with end of the summer activities I have neglected my bi-weekly posts.
I will tell you, I have been baking...BUT I have either been baking for others, or baking some of our favorites.
Like this one...or these (yum!) and these too.
If you click on any of those links you will be whisked away to past sugary success stories.

SO until I share a new recipe with you here's a peek at what else has been going on in my kitchen lately...
Some basketball cookies...
A Yogi Bear cake...
Some birthday cake cookies...
Some adorable birthday snakes for a little guy turning "6"
A giant cupcake...
Some fun hearts for a little girl's birthday party...
This order was for a Tiffany themed wedding shower...
and a cake to match
The bow had disco dust on it to give it a shimmer...
I made these cookies for a new cafe on Baxter Street in Soho
the cafe is called blue bird sky.
If you are in Manhattan, stop by and give it a try.  It's right off Canal Street, so it's super easy to find!
And finally a skateboard cake for a boy names Ty, who turned 7.
I also used disco dust on this cake to give it the look of the rough sandy-material on the underside of skateboards...(sorry I don't know what that material is called).
The disco dust doesn't really photograph well, but it looked good in person ;)
Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!

Sure looks like you have been busy baking and decorating.
I hate the end of summer! And this year is the first one in 17 yrs that I am not sending a kid to school in September. My daughter will be starting college in January, but now September students this year. I can't believe it!

Thanks everyone for the kind words :)

Cookie Sleuth ~ Here's my tip for the cupcake...grease grease grease your pan!! Seriously, make sure that you have it greased liberally. The first time I made the cake I did my usual butter/flour pan prep. No bueno. The next time I made sure to grease up a little better, but still had a bit of stickage. Now I have decided that baking spray is the way to go for this pan and haven't had an issue since.

Wow, that is a lot of work - tasty beautiful work! I really like the Tiffany cake. When I clicked on the links I was so pumped to see the pretzel treats. Yum! I make them a litle different, but they are awesome. Pretzel on the bottom, caramel kiss on top and squished down with a pecan. Ooh, I can taste the sweet and salty now...

You HAVE been busy! The hearts are adorable and I sure hope the little 6 year old loved his snakes. But the winner is the ribbon cake. Fabulous!

I think I was an unusual mother...I loved it when my last one went off to school. :) Look at it this way: you have more time to accomplish things. On the other hand, you're probably involved with school activities and will be doubly busy!
