Whoopie Love & A Blog2Print Giveaway for all you Bloggers

 Next week is Thanksgiving.  Duh.
A whole holiday solely revolving around food.
So what did I do yesterday?
I ordered a diet book.
Not for now, of course..that would just be silly.
For after.
After Thanksgiving...
or maybe after Christmas.
Because who starts a diet before Christmas?
Well, not RIGHT after Christmas...because then there's New Year's.
Ok.. definitely after New Years.
So, I will be totally prepared when 2011 rolls around...
  because come January it's on!
For real this time!
Not like the last time...or the time before that.
My husband asks me why I keep buying diet books.
He doesn't get it.
He told me that if I put all  my diet books in a backpack and walked around carrying them I would definitely  lose weight.
Meh.
And while that's mostly true..I would probably throw out my my back in the meantime.

But until January, let's focus on the food...
I am definitely not the source for learning how to truss a turkey.
But, I can help you out in the dessert department.
Especially in the cute dessert department.
Because we all know that desserts are better when they're cute.
And really, what's cuter than a whoopie pie?
This is my first-ever whoopie pie, and I'll tell ya ~ they were fun.
And tasty.
And cute.
What more can you ask for?
The inspiration for these came from a big old jar of Apple Butter that the folks over at Musselman's sent me.
To be honest, I didn't really know what to do with apple butter.
But I'll tell you..if anyone asks me now what to do with apple butter, clearly, it's make a whoopie pie!
Apple Butter Whoopie Pies
makes approx 16 - 18 cookies (enough to make 8-9 pies)
1/2 cup room temp. butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup apple butter
1 t. baking soda
1 t. baking powder
1 t. cinnamon
pinch nutmeg
1/2 t. salt
2 cups AP flour
Preheat oven to 350
Line baking sheet with parchment.
Scoop out batter (approx 2 T.) using an ice cream scooper.  Place 2 inches apart.
Bake 15 minutes until cookies are set.
Cool on wire rack.

Filling
1/2 c. room temp butter
1 t. cinnamon
3 c. sifted powdered sugar
2 T. milk
1 t. vanilla
Cream butter in mixer until smooth.
Slowly add powdered sugar and cinnamon.
Beat until combined.
Add vanilla and milk.
Mix on low until combined, then beat on medium for 1 min, scraping down sides when necessary.
For easy filling, put buttercream in a ziplock and snip off the corner.
Squeeze a generous amount of filling on bottom, leaving some space for the squeeze factor...
Roll in sprinkles...if you're feeling a little crazy ;)

Now, for all you bloggers out there, here's a giveaway just for you!
Blog2Print contacted me a while back offering to turn my blog into a book.
I checked out their site and plugged in my blog name and BOOM!  Instant book!
It was crazy...the site does all the work for you!
You can certainly go in and edit which posts you would like to include and remove, but it was really that simple.
Here's what arrived in the mail for me a week later:
Inside there is a cool "Contents" page with all my post titles...
Here's how the pages look...very professional!
and it all comes bound neatly...
It's a perfect way to keep a hard copy of all the work you put into your blog.
And for you mommies out there whose blogs chronicle the lives of their kids it's a perfect keepsake to show them when they get older, when blogs have gone the way of the VHS tape.

The folks over at Blog2Print want to offer one of my readers a $40 credit toward your own book!
To enter, leave me a comment telling me what you would do with your blog book...give it as a gift?  Keep it all to yourself?  Save it for your kids?  Carry around and show random people all your hard work?
Let me know!

For one additional entry, follow me on twitter @sugardrama and tweet about the giveaway!
Just leave me an extra comment telling me you tweeted!
Deadline for entries is Sunday, November 21st, 11:59 pm
CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED!
Congrats to "Anna" who was chosen by random.org

I've seen people do that before(transform their blog to a book), and you make it sound so easy! I'll definitely check out that site!(I thought you were going to give a copy of yours away:) That would be a prize!) I think I would keep mine, but I'd love to turn my kids' blogs into books for them...maybe Christmas:)
Love your whoopie pies! I've never made them either, unless you count my macarons that end up looking like whoopie pies.

I have a private blog I keep for my son, filled with letters to him "Love, Mom". I definitely want to turn that into a book someday!

I have a blog for the daily events of my preemie daughter who is still in the NICU at 4 1/2 months old. She is quite a little fighter - full of determination and spirit. I would print her blog as a keepsake for when she's a teenager, I can show her everything she had to overcome to get here and why I now have a lot of gray hairs! ;) Thanks for the great giveaway.

I have estranged from my oldest daughter for ten years because of Parental Alienation. I have two grandchildren that I can only love from a distance. I would publish my blog to save for them to get to know their Nana by.

My blog is a crafting blog and I would probably keep it for myself, put it out on the coffee table when people are over, just to let them know what they are missing if they don't follow my blog and maybe use it as a reference of the things I have posted in the past.
I think this is a wonderful prize, thanks to you and Blog2Print!

I would definitely give my blog book as a gift to my Dad - in that wonderful way that only parents can be, he loves my blog, reads every single word of every post (undoubtedly my biggest fan), even though by his own admission he would never cook anything I make - he's still a "steak grilled until it resembles shoe leather and accompany with three vegetables that have been microwaved to within an inch of their lives" kind of guy. Somethings you just can't change - one of those is that our culinary tastes differ rather dramatically, the other is that even after nearly 55 years I'm still his little girl :-)

My plan all along has been to turn my blog into a book. I write about our family and how life is now that we have twins! I definitely would keep the book (I'd actually need 2) so that one day I could share and give them to my children. Sort of like the babybook I've never gotten around to doing!
