Get Your Pudge On

Pillsbury Cake Redux.
This cake was inspired by a few different things...first and foremost by the cool Pillsbury products I received in the mail (that you can get too) AND by haters.
I have to admit to you, I kinda love haters.
I mean if you have people who take the time to write emails or oddball comments it means you're important enough to them to take the time out of their day to let you know you spelled flour like "flower" or that a "snowflake actually has 8 points, not 6".
Plus, I kinda get a chuckle when people get riled up, ya know?
Honestly, where would The Situation be if he didn't have haters?
I can tell where he WOULDN'T be...on TV.
See, sometime haters are the fuel that pushes you forward.
Don't get me wrong, I certainly am not going to make a career based on my rock solid abs.
But I CAN make a career making abs across the world squishy.

So this cake was inspired by a super cool person out there who said that I am the reason America is fat.
I love that I have that power.  Mwah-ha-ha-ha!
So if you're looking to get your pudge on this is for you.
Be warned, though, it's hard core.
Like the Hustler of desserts.
Not NC-17...this is Triple X.
There's cake, there's brownie, there's cookie dough, there's vanilla frosting, there's chocolate frosting, there are chocolate chip cookies...Gah!
It's kinda like that weird Turducken thing people make on Thanksgiving...but with none of the same stuff...and WAY better
Watch and learn skinny people...this is how you do it:
Bake a "Family Size" Pillsbury Fudge Brownie mix in a sprayed 8" round pan.
Let it cool completely.
Bake your Pillsbury Funfetti cake in 8" round pans.  Cool completely
(You will use only one of these for this cake...freeze the other layer or make cake pops..whatever)

Make your egg-free cookie dough:
1 c. butter, softened
1 c. packed light brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
4 Tbsp. milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 t. salt
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2c. mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

Combine first 5 ingredients in a mixing bowl and cream together. Add flour and stir until combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
Plop it on top of your brownie, like so:

Now spread it...
(I had a little dough leftover for my "kids" to eat)
Top your cookie dough with your funfetti layer.
Now stand back and smile lovingly at what you have just created. That's an important step.
Frost the entire cake with vanilla frosting.
You can use my recipe, or your own favorite.
I baked some chocolate chip cookies to add to the side for decoration and also used the Pillsbury No Fuss Frosting in Decadent Chocolate Fudge to pipe some embellishments.
Ta-da!!  People will be happy that you made this.  Believe.

Don't hate...appreciate
xoxo

Oh my gosh...This looks incredibly delicious! I'm trying to lose some baby fat, but I will not blame you for it still being there! haha whoever made that comment about you being the reason America is fat is so wrong it's funny...It's not like you are out there twisting our arms to make any of your recipes!

Oh my gosh..........what else is there to say but YUM. And as for your hater- mind your own business and keep your negativity to yourself. There's more than enough of it in the world as it is!

Joanne said...

I hate negative commenters. And love them at the same time. They are so invigorating. I guarantee that if everyone in America exercised more, then nothing you could make would make them fat. Trueness. but then again, I would gladly become fat for this cake. Hellz yeah.

2-4-6-8, who do we appreciate? YOU!
If you're going to bake a cake, then bake a CAKE! WOW.

Flavia said...

Holy crap, now this is a serious dessert! I would love to try it, but sadly I think my entire daily caloric intake is in one slice xD May make it for the BF's work though for easter, just because it looks so slamming!

Now were all loving the hater for inspiring this, it's kinda like the cake version of when Homer Simpson was allowed to design a car. Very cool.

Wow I am sorry you had negative commenters. Sometimes you have to wonder they bother?? Oh well and trust me I live in Belgium thanks to the US military and yeah Americans are not the only ones who are fat. There are some massive Belgians waddling around the street (no offense to anyone) and Germans are not any better off. Every country has over weight people and that is alright. I don't judge. It irritates me when foreigners though think they can judge anyone.

Love the pudge cake! The name also is freaking adorable.

Kristie Maynard said...

Holy Stromboli!!! I think I added a little onto my hips just looking at that! Sure does look pretty tasty.
And as for you making us fat. HA! Yep you come to my home and stuff it down my throat! Some people are idiots.

Abby said...

This looks so good! I am pregnant and really miss eating unbaked cookie dough (I usually eat it despite the raw egg but for the litlte one have abstained!) Now I can go to town on this and blame the weight gain on the baby! I've got my plans for this weekend ;)

Sparkling Sugar Sweets said...

This looks heavenly! Yum! By the way thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment :)

egbkid said...

Oh my gosh, that is insane! It looks delicious, but i don't think i could eat something that sweet. Very creative, though!

Melody said...

There you go again thinking outside the cake box! LOVE IT!!!!

Those spelling and grammar police(being nice here by using police) are the worst. Wait, on second thought, they may run a close second to the I-know-every-little-trivial-thing-and-I'm-gonna-make-sure-you-know-it people.
*sigh*
Now onto that cake! OMG! I think you've come up with the perfect PMS food! I so need some of that right now! ;)
I also want to add that I see nothing wrong with squishy abs...my 3 year old loves me that way. He calls it fluffy. "Mommy, I love you...you are fluffy." I love that boy. :)

Pink Little Cake said...

LOL, America is fat because we don't work out. ups!! I forgot that I am not American! maybe that's why I do get bad comments and emails, spelling corrections, bad tutorials, missing steps in a cake, bad pictures, well who cares! they end up reading our blogs anyway, right?

I have never eaten cookie dough, but it looks delicious in this cake, great idea Shelley.

Allison said...

Oh dear, Lord... This cake is totally getting made this weekend.

I am dieing to make and eat that cake RIGHT NOW! Unfortunately I've given up dessert for the entirety of Lent. I'm definitely going to use that egg free cookie dough recipe one time.

OH MY GOD. I don't think my mind can actually comprehend the level of deliciousness that's going on here. Triple layers?! Excellent post my friend! Embrace that power to make the USA fat ;)

Mindy said...

Incredible! I had no idea cookie dough could be made w/o eggs. And I think the real reason America is fat is lack of moderation. If we all indulged occasionally it would be fine.

Thanks for the great post!

Lilianna Grace said...

Holy awesome! This cake is brilliant and the post that came along with it is hilarious. Props to you not letting someone's absurd comment get you down.

The Addicted Baker said...

Talk about a diet breaker. Who cares though, this looks amazing and delicious and everything in between.
One trick for cookie dough, is instead of eggs use 2 tbsp of milk per egg. Works like a charm!

Jocelyn said...

haha! I totally LOVE this cake idea! You are awesome! Why do some people feel the need to rain on our parades? You keep posting those delicious pudge treats because I love to see what you have created!!!!

Lorraine said...

You are too funny! I don't think you are responsible for making people fat, just for making our tummies really, really happy:) Without the occasional indulgence, life would be way too serious and boring. You are a genius when it comes to goodies. This looks amazing. Why don't the haters just stick a carrot up their...!

This takes decadance to a whole new level. I bow down to your holy knowledge!! Wow!!!

Mel said...

Just discovered your blog right now. You are brilliant! Thank you haters for inspiring the most amazing cake ever!

People are the reason that they are fat, not the heavenly recipes you make on this site! People do have a choice to eat and make them, don't they?! I chose to make them and eat them and I am not fat - but not skinny either ;)

ps your c&c fudge was the last thing I made before I delivered my baby girl. She wanted to come out and get some for herself!

Gosh I never knew how much "hate" food bloggers get till I started becoming obsessed with making new desserts and food (see how I put dessert first ) ;) and man o man, people need to get a life already besides leaving such hate filled emails or comments..if you don't like something a blogger said then...MOVE ON! nobody is saying you have to read them or respond..and to get to the bottom of it..it's just FOOD!
Sheesh all week I have been reading so much "hate" filled comments..Poor Brown Eyed Baker..poor Peabody..Gee whiz people, if food pisses you off..stop BLURPHING then!!!!
I am making this for my card class tonight and my hubby, is like umm ya save me a slice please! :)
Have a great Friday..

So its it fault I'm fat!!! Shame on you for writing this recipe. Shame on you for making me read it forcing me to the store for the ingredients and paying for.them. not to mention making me.bake.it, lick each and and every spooon and blocking the door so I could not exercise afterward. And making me eat the second slice was just out of line. Shaking my head!

This is Sinfull!... but you know whats even funnier is people who make these "YOur the reason America is fat" comments dont realize that people EVERYWHERE eat like this, not specifally everyday, but they enjoy a treat, and we have been doing this since, um forever! all in moderation, and if you take it overboard then thats your bad. You cant blame someone else for your mistake or unhealthy lifestyle just because you cant control yourself. Its our own lifestyle that turns OURSELVES obeese, not America, not a group, but ourselves. Im not a thin person by all means, and I do enjoy my 'treats', but I know not to do it all the time, even though I so desperetaly want to snuggle on my couch and devour a greman chocolate cake, I dont. It makes me so upset when people put the blame on others UGH!!

Made this today, embellished with even more goodies for a friend who's been overseas (and away from delicious processed foods) for a year.

total damage:
21,030 calories
1010 grams of fat
2069 g of sugar (that's 492 teaspoons)

Good thing he doesn't visit often!

I so want a giant piece of that. I will resist making it until I have plenty of people to share it with. Thinking I might just wash it down with a big glass of chocolate milk.

And I pride myself on eating relatively healthily (is that even a word?!).

But we all need a treat once in a while. ;)

Erin said...

I'm totally late to the party, but I think you're a genius for creating this cake. I LOVE to bake (and eat what I bake). So, when I was "borderline gestational diabetic" during my pregnancy, my doctor told me I couldn't have sugar. Since then (I'm now 40 weeks, 1 day pregnant), I dream of sweets. And I have printed this recipe out, because the minute I feel up to baking again after this baby is born, THIS is what I'm making! And I doubt I'll share.
