Pillsbury Cake Redux.
This cake was inspired by a few different things...first and foremost by the cool Pillsbury products I received in the mail (that you can get too) AND by haters.
I have to admit to you, I kinda love haters.
I mean if you have people who take the time to write emails or oddball comments it means you're important enough to them to take the time out of their day to let you know you spelled flour like "flower" or that a "snowflake actually has 8 points, not 6".
Plus, I kinda get a chuckle when people get riled up, ya know?
Honestly, where would The Situation be if he didn't have haters?
I can tell where he WOULDN'T be...on TV.
See, sometime haters are the fuel that pushes you forward.
Don't get me wrong, I certainly am not going to make a career based on my rock solid abs.
But I CAN make a career making abs across the world squishy.
So this cake was inspired by a super cool person out there who said that I am the reason America is fat.
I love that I have that power. Mwah-ha-ha-ha!
So if you're looking to get your pudge on this is for you.
Be warned, though, it's hard core.
Like the Hustler of desserts.
Not NC-17...this is Triple X.
There's cake, there's brownie, there's cookie dough, there's vanilla frosting, there's chocolate frosting, there are chocolate chip cookies...Gah!
It's kinda like that weird Turducken thing people make on Thanksgiving...but with none of the same stuff...and WAY better

Watch and learn skinny people...this is how you do it:
Bake a "Family Size" Pillsbury Fudge Brownie mix in a sprayed 8" round pan.
Let it cool completely.
Bake your Pillsbury Funfetti cake in 8" round pans. Cool completely
(You will use only one of these for this cake...freeze the other layer or make cake pops..whatever)
Make your egg-free cookie dough:
1 c. butter, softened
1 c. packed light brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
4 Tbsp. milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 t. salt
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2c. mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. packed light brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
4 Tbsp. milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 t. salt
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2c. mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
Combine first 5 ingredients in a mixing bowl and cream together. Add flour and stir until combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
Plop it on top of your brownie, like so:
Now spread it...
(I had a little dough leftover for my "kids" to eat)
Top your cookie dough with your funfetti layer.
Now stand back and smile lovingly at what you have just created. That's an important step.

Frost the entire cake with vanilla frosting.
You can use my recipe, or your own favorite.
I baked some chocolate chip cookies to add to the side for decoration and also used the Pillsbury No Fuss Frosting in Decadent Chocolate Fudge to pipe some embellishments.

You're hilarious && this is a brillant recipe (:
Oh my gosh...This looks incredibly delicious! I'm trying to lose some baby fat, but I will not blame you for it still being there! haha whoever made that comment about you being the reason America is fat is so wrong it's funny...It's not like you are out there twisting our arms to make any of your recipes!
oh no you didn't. Already have my pudge on. Need to get pudge off but then you post a recipe like this that just screams TRY ME! Looks delish!
Girl, I love you. Funny, irreverent and damn creative. Haters gonna hate, baby. You just do your thang.
Also, the button on my pants just popped looking at those photos.
oh. my. god. i think i just died. that looks amazing! and totally worth the pudge! i have to make this. really soon.
and i love how "you're the reason america is fat". um, yeah right. but i adore how you twist it around into something hilarious and a yummy dessert!
OMG, that looks AWESOME!!!! I'm SO going to have to find a reason to bake this bad boy!
I have died and gone to heaven!!!!! That is AWESOME! I am going to attempt that baby tonight!! =]
Oh my gosh..........what else is there to say but YUM. And as for your hater- mind your own business and keep your negativity to yourself. There's more than enough of it in the world as it is!
I hate negative commenters. And love them at the same time. They are so invigorating. I guarantee that if everyone in America exercised more, then nothing you could make would make them fat. Trueness. but then again, I would gladly become fat for this cake. Hellz yeah.
2-4-6-8, who do we appreciate? YOU!
If you're going to bake a cake, then bake a CAKE! WOW.
Holy crap, now this is a serious dessert! I would love to try it, but sadly I think my entire daily caloric intake is in one slice xD May make it for the BF's work though for easter, just because it looks so slamming!
The great thing about having haters is that it means you also have lovers!
Thanks for sharing this!!
I think I know what i'm making for dessert tonight....
Brilliant! I WANT THIS.
If you are going to be fat, THIS is the way to be fat... that looks amazing and I don't care how many calories it has. Cookie dough filling is heaven.
I loved this post! And that cake I'm going to the store this afternoon and I have to make this ASAP. And I don't even have to say it's for the growing baby inside me I can say Hey I'm getting my pudge on :)
OMG. That's awesome. When I scrolled down and saw the pic of the slice of cake with the brownie, cookie dough, cake and frosting, I seriously gasped. You rock!!
That's awesome! Way to embrace the hate! I totally can't. I recently got my first troll. And I cried. Anyway....
I love, love, love stacking desserts! Cheesecake and brownies? Yes please! This thing looks amazing!
I'm a skinny miny and I look forward to your recipes!
This is brilliant I love it!!
this looks amazing and I love the note to the haters!
Oh yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about! That cake is a little mountain of YUM!
Will you be my new bff?
Its when you have haters that you have truly made it! Haha
Hilarious post! And the cake looks amazing!
Now were all loving the hater for inspiring this, it's kinda like the cake version of when Homer Simpson was allowed to design a car. Very cool.
Wow I am sorry you had negative commenters. Sometimes you have to wonder they bother?? Oh well and trust me I live in Belgium thanks to the US military and yeah Americans are not the only ones who are fat. There are some massive Belgians waddling around the street (no offense to anyone) and Germans are not any better off. Every country has over weight people and that is alright. I don't judge. It irritates me when foreigners though think they can judge anyone.
Love the pudge cake! The name also is freaking adorable.
Holy Stromboli!!! I think I added a little onto my hips just looking at that! Sure does look pretty tasty.
And as for you making us fat. HA! Yep you come to my home and stuff it down my throat! Some people are idiots.
This looks so good! I am pregnant and really miss eating unbaked cookie dough (I usually eat it despite the raw egg but for the litlte one have abstained!) Now I can go to town on this and blame the weight gain on the baby! I've got my plans for this weekend ;)
This looks heavenly! Yum! By the way thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment :)
Oh my gosh, that is insane! It looks delicious, but i don't think i could eat something that sweet. Very creative, though!
There you go again thinking outside the cake box! LOVE IT!!!!
Those spelling and grammar police(being nice here by using police) are the worst. Wait, on second thought, they may run a close second to the I-know-every-little-trivial-thing-and-I'm-gonna-make-sure-you-know-it people.
*sigh*
Now onto that cake! OMG! I think you've come up with the perfect PMS food! I so need some of that right now! ;)
I also want to add that I see nothing wrong with squishy abs...my 3 year old loves me that way. He calls it fluffy. "Mommy, I love you...you are fluffy." I love that boy. :)
LOL, America is fat because we don't work out. ups!! I forgot that I am not American! maybe that's why I do get bad comments and emails, spelling corrections, bad tutorials, missing steps in a cake, bad pictures, well who cares! they end up reading our blogs anyway, right?
I have never eaten cookie dough, but it looks delicious in this cake, great idea Shelley.
Oh dear, Lord... This cake is totally getting made this weekend.
I am dieing to make and eat that cake RIGHT NOW! Unfortunately I've given up dessert for the entirety of Lent. I'm definitely going to use that egg free cookie dough recipe one time.
I just had a mouthgasm!!!
You are amazing and I love you! I had no idea you were to blame for everyone in the world gaining weight. Foh should be ashamed of yourself. Ha7
OH MY GOD. I don't think my mind can actually comprehend the level of deliciousness that's going on here. Triple layers?! Excellent post my friend! Embrace that power to make the USA fat ;)
Incredible! I had no idea cookie dough could be made w/o eggs. And I think the real reason America is fat is lack of moderation. If we all indulged occasionally it would be fine.
Thanks for the great post!
Holy awesome! This cake is brilliant and the post that came along with it is hilarious. Props to you not letting someone's absurd comment get you down.
Talk about a diet breaker. Who cares though, this looks amazing and delicious and everything in between.
One trick for cookie dough, is instead of eggs use 2 tbsp of milk per egg. Works like a charm!
haha! I totally LOVE this cake idea! You are awesome! Why do some people feel the need to rain on our parades? You keep posting those delicious pudge treats because I love to see what you have created!!!!
You are too funny! I don't think you are responsible for making people fat, just for making our tummies really, really happy:) Without the occasional indulgence, life would be way too serious and boring. You are a genius when it comes to goodies. This looks amazing. Why don't the haters just stick a carrot up their...!
This takes decadance to a whole new level. I bow down to your holy knowledge!! Wow!!!
Just discovered your blog right now. You are brilliant! Thank you haters for inspiring the most amazing cake ever!
People are the reason that they are fat, not the heavenly recipes you make on this site! People do have a choice to eat and make them, don't they?! I chose to make them and eat them and I am not fat - but not skinny either ;)
-Kerry
ps your c&c fudge was the last thing I made before I delivered my baby girl. She wanted to come out and get some for herself!
Gosh I never knew how much "hate" food bloggers get till I started becoming obsessed with making new desserts and food (see how I put dessert first ) ;) and man o man, people need to get a life already besides leaving such hate filled emails or comments..if you don't like something a blogger said then...MOVE ON! nobody is saying you have to read them or respond..and to get to the bottom of it..it's just FOOD!
Sheesh all week I have been reading so much "hate" filled comments..Poor Brown Eyed Baker..poor Peabody..Gee whiz people, if food pisses you off..stop BLURPHING then!!!!
I am making this for my card class tonight and my hubby, is like umm ya save me a slice please! :)
Have a great Friday..
Just you by yourself made the whole world fat huh? That is amazing. You must have super powers!! Love the post!!! Keep on baking girl!
(clearing throat)
Did you ever know that you're my heeeee-rooooooooo?
You're everything I would like to beeeeeee.
Haters want to make your food illeeeeegal.
'Cause you put the pudge above our jeeeeeeans.
I am laughing so hard!!!!
LOVE your cake :)
I blogged about a cake I ate last year at a diner that was three layers....long story short was hoping to get it made last month....but it will be made soon.
LOVE your combo!!! Laughing at the haters, I know the ones...yeah.. your the reason people are fat...what a laugh. I my self think it's all the calories people drink and don't think they count or the ones that are in the fast food lines EVERY night...no that couldn't be it, COULD IT? HA! Yes, I too get rilled up about said "haters"
LOVE your cake "feerless Shelly" that's what I think you are feerless!!!! LOVE it and hope you are smiling from ear to ear with my LOVE - LOVE - LOVE comments!!!
You're so sweet and I always enjoy reading your blog, but I'm sure you already knew that :)
This post made me laugh. Ditto what everyone else said. You're awesome. And so is your cake :)
OH my goodness!!! I am definitely going to have to make this one!!!! You are awesome... and I tell you what, I am all for squishy abs if I can eat this all the time!!! :o)
I want the ability to make all of America fat. That's a cool superpower! That cake looks amazing. My son and I have decided to make it as soon as our kitchen remodel is done. Yum!

I LOVE that you went there!!! As much as I cringe when I get the not so kind comments - they do inspire me to do more & better. You rock this pudge cake girl. I will dream about this cake :)
Too funny - this is one seriously indulgent cake!
Oh girl...
you should have SEEN a couple of the comments I got on my last post. Hellooooo...it's called your OWN blog and you can use it to say whatever mean stuff you want.
This cake looks fattening. Which equals super yummy. Duh. I'd love a piece!!
Ha! I love that you let the hate inspire you to create even more indulgent treats. :)
You are evil. rotten. Horrible.
Hope that inspired you to keep making these sinful treats, because this cake is AMAZING.
I agree, you are brilliant! What a fabulous cake and perfect response to haters :)
mickey
Oh yum this looks amazingly good, I really would like to dig my spoon into thsi right now!
i would classify this as evil. also, decadent and delicious. very crafty of you--count me in. :)
My daughter would totally dive into that with full force.
This cake looks amazing! Thanks so much for posting! This looks much better than the Thanksgiving pie cake which was a pumpkin, pecan and chocolate pie stacked on top of each other and iced like a cake. Talk about pudge!
Keep up the awesome work!
Can you put me into the "Appreciater" column? Because, you rock...and any cake called "Pudgy cake" is right up my alley!s
I'm so glad for retweets...you are hilarious! This looks like something I've been craving! Who says you have to crave pickles when you're pregnant? Bring on the sugar! This is awesome!
So its it fault I'm fat!!! Shame on you for writing this recipe. Shame on you for making me read it forcing me to the store for the ingredients and paying for.them. not to mention making me.bake.it, lick each and and every spooon and blocking the door so I could not exercise afterward. And making me eat the second slice was just out of line. Shaking my head!
Yum! This is the perfect dessert for when you can't decide what to eat!
Aside fronm being the reason America is fat - you are EVIL! HOLY cake that is serving full of utter goodness. And by that I mean forget the the plates, I'll have my serving as the cake in its entirety!
Love it. Deliciousness all the way around!
Absolutely awesome, and you are just too funny! You go girl! I love the "in your face!" attitude of this cake :)I didn't know you were personally responsible for making America fat thought, who knew? You have some skills! LOL! The person who wrote to you was obviously just HUNGRY and cranky!
I am SOOOO making this cake for my babys 1st birthday party!! You are a genius my friend!! : )
This looks so fun! Your cookies look perfect, by the way. Recipe? Pillsbury?
This looks soooo yummy! I would just call this cake...dinner!
This is Sinfull!... but you know whats even funnier is people who make these "YOur the reason America is fat" comments dont realize that people EVERYWHERE eat like this, not specifally everyday, but they enjoy a treat, and we have been doing this since, um forever! all in moderation, and if you take it overboard then thats your bad. You cant blame someone else for your mistake or unhealthy lifestyle just because you cant control yourself. Its our own lifestyle that turns OURSELVES obeese, not America, not a group, but ourselves. Im not a thin person by all means, and I do enjoy my 'treats', but I know not to do it all the time, even though I so desperetaly want to snuggle on my couch and devour a greman chocolate cake, I dont. It makes me so upset when people put the blame on others UGH!!
Ok,anyone who uses the phrase "Watch and learn skinny people...this is how you do it:"
is just plain awesome in my book!
Oh my God.Very funny and I will appreciate vicariously through your photos!
You have an AMAZING blog! I just started following after I found this bad boy! I made a version of an incredibly pudgy cake for my house tonight and blogged about it! My husband may have a problem getting out of the house if I make it for him everyday as he requested! He loves it so much! Thanks for the inspiration!
I am just reading this now. I'm having inappropriate thoughts about it. I love you. Haha! Gorgeous cake/brownie/cookie! Call it the Browcoocak. Sounds very Jersey Shore, no?
I have two simple words for you: Thank.You. This looks ahhhh-mazing!
This is amazing. I am making this cake. I don't care if this is the reason that America is fat or not, it's awesomeness in its purest form.
In fact, this is the first time I've read your blog, and I think I'm in love.
YES!!!!!! I think I just gained like 10 pounds reading this post! But it looks great!
Haha that sure is some power! And that cake.. Oh my... It looks like pure sin :)
OMG, my big junk in the trunk butt loves you forever! I know what I'm making for my birthday cake this year!!! And I loved the Triple X comment...well played double entendre there, well played!
oh my, I love you, will you be my bestie?? ;)
I'm sending this to the Hubs so he can make it for my birthday this year! Thank you!
I JUST found your blog and this post totally rocks! So does your recipe. Say hello to your newest follower. Now I'm off to read more of your posts.
This looks awesome! Can't wait to find an excuse to try it!
Made this today, embellished with even more goodies for a friend who's been overseas (and away from delicious processed foods) for a year.
total damage:
21,030 calories
1010 grams of fat
2069 g of sugar (that's 492 teaspoons)
Good thing he doesn't visit often!
Oh. My. God. I need to make this cake! :)
Thanks for the inspiration! It was a big hit. ours is here:
http://cootiechronicles.blogspot.com/2011/04/recipe-for-disaster.html
I so want a giant piece of that. I will resist making it until I have plenty of people to share it with. Thinking I might just wash it down with a big glass of chocolate milk.
And I pride myself on eating relatively healthily (is that even a word?!).
But we all need a treat once in a while. ;)
First of all... LOVE your position on the haters - so true, so you, so I say, Bravo!
Second of all... Holy fish-sticks (sh*t)! That is an amazing cake!
Sweeeeeeeeeeet Laaaaaaawdy.
THIS is the reason I'm a new follower.
(And it'll make a delish end-of-the-school-year-potluck dish.)
Becky
My husband is in the kitchen this very moment making this for my birthday tomorrow!
Thanks for this recipe. I just made it for our Friday night group and it was delicious! Of course I made it 9x13 size so it was extra pudgy. :o)
Made this cake for a party of 30 somthings and it went over like gangbusters! Everyone LOVED it! Thx so much!
I'm totally late to the party, but I think you're a genius for creating this cake. I LOVE to bake (and eat what I bake). So, when I was "borderline gestational diabetic" during my pregnancy, my doctor told me I couldn't have sugar. Since then (I'm now 40 weeks, 1 day pregnant), I dream of sweets. And I have printed this recipe out, because the minute I feel up to baking again after this baby is born, THIS is what I'm making! And I doubt I'll share.
Oh, my goodness. This is like the birthday version of the Cherpumple!
I feel fatter and spottier just looking at it.
