Pizza for dessert

I am a mom.
I have 4 boys and a husband...so make that 5 boys.
We live a hectic life filled with laughter and chaos.
So, when Friday rolls around we are all spent.  Tired.  Exhausted.
Pizza night, anyone?
I grew up having pizza every Friday.  Every.  Friday. With no deviation.  I never really gave it much thought when I was young, never considered the fact that my mom felt the same way that I feel now.  I guess, as a kid you don't think about your parent's feelings.  That's the way it goes.
My kids are great, truly, but they are an exhausting gang.  I woke up this morning to my 4 and 6 year old playing "Wipeout" in their room.  And by "Wipeout" I mean that ridiculous show that is home to the big balls...heehee...nope, I'm not above it ;).
There were crashes, jumping, banging, laughing and then, of course, the inevitable crying.
6:30, Saturday morning in my house...oh yes.
Back to the pizza...
So, carrying on my mom's tradition we also have pizza night, but we usually make our own.  Which is fun because it becomes a family affair.
Pizza is a part of our lives, so much so that my husband has decided to build a pizza oven in our backyard.  This, in theory, sounds awesome but my husband, while crazy-smart and cute to boot, is challenged in the finishing of projects, so I am fearful of having a half-finished pizza oven staring at me from the backyard for the next 5 years..but I'll save that rant for another post :)
Now, here's where pizza meets my blog...
Pizza cake.

I got an order for this and thought it would just be such a fun cake, and it was.  I am quite certain that I had more fun making it than they could possibly have eating it!
It is a Snickerdoodle cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.

The "cheese" is grated white chocolate and the "pepperoni", "peppers" and "olives" are made from fondant.
It was a 16" round and I wanted to put it in a pizza box for cute presentation, but the pizza boxes I was able to get weren't deep enough, so it just went in a plain white box.
Oh well.

Have a great weekend y'all!

We do pizza every Friday, too! It's such a nice tradition...and such a nice break when it's takeout or frozen! ;)

And by the way.....Friday night has been pizza night in our lives forever too. I have five kids....most grown now, but we still have pizza on most Fridays. :-)

Oh! Very cute! Who wouldn't love to get a whopper of a cake like that on their birthday! 16"? I'm jealous. My oven can't hold a 16" pan!

We had pizza tonight and I didn't do anything all day except take one of the twins to baseball practice so there was no reason not to cook. Oh, well! Your pizza cake would have been a lovely dessert to have afterward.

Just found your blog (love it!). I worked a bakery for years and we made pizza cakes... 12" cakes with buttercream icing. We'd airbrush the icing to look like pizza dough and add toppings out of icing. I loved doing the green peppers, olives, and everything else. Yours is a cute variation!! Love the pepperonis!

Ok, are you sure we aren't sisters? I have four boys (and a fifth with my dear, old husband), we also do make-our-own pizza night, and my boys also wake up at the break of dawn and start trying to break their necks. Weird. Or maybe it is just a boy thing. Yeah, that's probably it.

This dessert pizza is so delightful. My boys would love it, but it would be far too much work to let it go down their little gullets! You are one talented lady!

This is great (and so clever!) I'm always looking for things to make that are both delicious and look like a million bucks! I can't wait to try this!
