Is there such a thing as too sweet? Really?
I have heard this time and time again and it makes me feel like my brain is malfunctioning. I must be wired differently than those who speak such strange phrases. I need to check my back panel and re-wire, like that cute little robot girl, Vicki from "Small Wonder". Remember that show?
Ahh, the 80's.
"Too much sugar. Do not compute", said in my best robot voice.
Ok-sorry about that last line. I do have a tendancy of taking things just THIS much too far. I'm aware.
Anyway, back to "too sweet".
I was the pregnant lady who sort of liked the glucose drink they use to test for gestational diabetes. Yeah, there were other ladies in the office drinking the sugar cocktail and throwing up. Not me.
Sugar and I are BFFs.
So with that said, those of you who "do not compute" what I am saying (again with the robot voice, hee hee)
you need to proceed with caution because this little treat is going to knock your sweet tooth on the ground.
First, look what I found!
Have you seen these?
Oh yeah! There was no way that I wasn't buying these. We are Ritz people over here, so this is just improving on perfection, if that's possible.
Now, there are a million and two different things you could do with these..just imagine a pie crust made from these...or a parfait with these crumbled up in between each layer, yay!
But my first thought was another version of the Sammie.
I have been wanting to try a recipe for this brown sugar buttercream for a long while now and this seemed like the brown-sugar gods were smiling down on me, telling me to throw caution to the wind and do it.
Who am I to say no?
(I'm not going to re-write the frosting recipe because I followed it exactly as-is, so click on the link for the how-to's.)
I went ahead and made the frosting first because there is a cooling time involved, which I usually despise, but in this case it was worth it. This, possibly, is the most delicious frosting ever. It is very sweet, but the brown sugariness comes through and through and through. It is yum!
What I did was easy. I just sandwiched about a teaspoon of the frosting in between the crackers
then dipped it half-way into some melted Hershey's Cinnamon chips that I had.
So, here's a re-cap...
Brown Sugar Cinnamon Ritz with a Brown sugar buttercream filling dipped in melted cinnamon chips.
Ahhhhh.
These little treats would have been perfect at Christmas when everyone was eating with vigor, and now they seem a bit indulgent, but we all need a little indulgence, right?
Take it from the crazy sugar/robot lady.

Those cracker (cookie?) sandwiches look delicious! I haven't seen those Ritz yet. Must keep an eye out on my next grocery trip. The only bad thing about eating something really sweet is that I like to follow it up with something salty...like potato chips or something equally unhealthy! :D
So yeah, I loved that show when I was a kid. That and Alf. I had very high standards for family programming, obviously.
p.s. Very creative treats!
Yum! And who didn't like Small Wonder?? ;)
Haven't seen the Ritz, but will be scouring the stores for them this weekend - they sound yummy! Can't wait to try the brown sugar buttercream too.
SOOOOOOO, where'd ya find those crackers? My mind is RACING with all that can be made with those babies. Your "sammies" are an excellent start. Come Saturday, I'm on a mission to track 'em down. Thanks.....I think?! :)

I saw those crackers a couple weeks ago but didn't get any, now I'm kicking myself. These look ver sweet but I definitely wouldn't turn on down :-)
I so have to look for these at the market. We are ritz people also, I have got to try them. Love what you created with them, fantastic!
I betcha I won't be able to find those Amazing crackers in Canada! (cinnamon chips elude me as well) They look fantastic though!
My sweet tooth craves Cadbury Easter cream eggs and I don't know how many people have told me they're too sweet! They're all crazy!

Well done! These look amazing. I also wasn't phased by the glucose drink. Are the Ritz sort of salty/sweet? Because I will have to hunt them down if they are.
Now I'm going to be on the look out for those Ritz crackers. This is a great idea! Those look like a tasty meal..errr I mean treat, that'll I'll prolly make a meal out of.
First, I loved Small Wonder too! And someone else mentioned Alf. I feel kind of bad that there aren't those kind of shows on TV now for our kids to grow up watching. Anyway, back to the Ritz crackers. These look so good. I love how simple the idea is, yet how decadent it looks!
Yummy! So simple and sweet! You can never have too much sugar. ;-)
A PIE crust would be soooo yummy!! That's a great idea!
wow! i bet those are so flaky and yummy! What a simple, yet delicious treat!
And I bet they are addicting!
Crazy good! I hope that they have those Ritz in my local market.
Mimi
they look sooo good!
Those look delish! I've tried the brown sugar ritz alone, but I'm a sugar addict as well, so I'm def going to try this recipe :)
PS. I'm Kate, and I'm new to your blog! I'm already enjoying it!
I've had that Ritz flavor, and liked them, but your variation makes them out of this world! BTW, I heard on that radio that they now have Chocolate Cheerios:) Mmmmm...
O.M.G.!!!!!!!!! Those look amazing!!! I have a seriously sweet tooth as well, but it looks like my sweet tooth might have met it's match. Can't wait to find those Ritz crackers at my grocery store and try these!
Those look delicious and just so you know someone is getting your humor -this post made me laugh so hard!
I have never met ANYONE else that liked that glucose drink!!! A friend of mine even asked her doctor for two bottles of it when she went in for her test, so that she could give it to me! Yummmm! :D Too sweet does NOT compute. I have got to find these crackers and try these out. Mmmmmm.
You know what I say....LEGALIZE FROSTITUTION!
I only wish I could find goodies Like that!
