I mean sweet little girls who love all things pink and pretty.
Little girls who squeal with excitement.
Little girls who have dolls and want to feed them and dress them up.
I think about all these things very longingly.
You see, I have boys. All boys. 4 of them.
There are no girly things in my house. No dolls (unless GI Joe qualifies).
No pink. No ruffles. No tea parties.
I made these tea cup cupcakes for a sweet neighbor a few weeks ago. Her daughter is in my 1st grader's class and she was having a tea party for her birthday. I sigh.
The girls all brought their dolls...sigh sigh.
And ate off of good china. Sigh sigh sigh.
They had tea sandwiches cut in the shapes of hearts and wore pretty party dresses.
Don't get me wrong, I love my boys and we have loads of rough and tumble fun. But I will tell you, there is nothing dainty about them. It is all army men, fart jokes and paintball around here.
My husband got me a girl dog as a consolation prize, and while I love her she might as well be a boy.
The days of dreaming about mommy/daughter mani/pedi's has ceased and I have come to terms with being the only girl in the house.
So, in the meantime I will live vicariously through my friends and their girls...that is until they hit puberty.
From what I hear (and lived) I will be fine skipping that part :)
All the teacups, saucers and spoons are made from marshmallow fondant and I used my Americolor Gourmet Food Markers for the flowers.
These food markers are the only ones, in my book. If you use food markers, or plan on using them, Americolor is the brand to buy. They write perfect and have great color.
Have a Happy Wednesday!

Just wonderful...glad you got that girly fix! :)
These are beyond cute. Love them!
It is my fear that I will have all boys... but you know what? I can do what you do and just live vicariously through my friends and do fun girly things! These cupcakes are adorable. I think you should treat yourself to a mani/pedi!
These are so pretty! I feel your pain...It's all Thomas Trains and Lightning McQueen in my house. Thankfully I have 2 nieces that I make girly things for...

I know how you feel-I have ALL boys in my house too with the exception of Coco, our pug-who is as loud as the rest of them! :)
Oh my word!!! lol I think this is the cutest thing I've ever seen:) Those little teacups are so adorable!!
Oh these are just fabulous! Wish we had some in December when I had Lexi's tea party. Just precious!
Super cute!! Fantastic!

How adorable!! I love americolors but they don't write on cheese :( They work so well on everything else!
They are so cute! I love them :)you are so talented!
My hope is to have all boys. Being a girl, I know how much drama girls can be. We'll see what happens though...
My son's wife is having our first grandchild this summer - a girl! This is such a cute idea - for a future tea party perhaps. You come up with such clever and unique ideas!
How adorable!
wow these are too cute!!!
You can borrow my 7 year old and do all the girlie girl things as she is always up for a tea party. lol. These are darling and I especially love the tea cup on top. Where did you find those? You always make something brilliant.
cute!
I come from a family of 4 girls, and growing up, even our dog and two cats were female. Let me tell you, there are times when I feel bad for my dad. Like you said, you won't mind just having boys once they hit the teenage years.
These might be the sweetest cupcakes I've ever seen. They are adorable, and I'm sure the girls went crazy for them!
How adorable! I love the spoons too! Nice detail! Those are some lucky girls! You are so creative! I love your cookies and cupcakes. They are always adorable.
I love these!! These little tea cups are to die for. They are so cute, the details are awesome.
Great job, I hope I can do some of these toppers for my little girl one of these days.
I heart your cupcakes and glad you can get your 'girly' fix; I only have boys so I totally get it!
These fondant tops are so beautiful, almost too beautiful to eat! I'll have to learn how to make these one day.
Oh these are SO CUTE!! And even though I'm sure your boys are great, I bet you'd love to have a girl to share your cupcake & cookies love with! Although, I bet your boys love to EAT them all :) xx
The little teacups are so cute! Someday you'll probably have a slew of granddaughters:)
So cute! It's your details that make these adorable. Thanks for the tip on the food pens.

btw GI Joe is officially an action figure.
Oh my goodness! SO CUTE! I absolutely love them.
As the mother of two (grown) boys, I found solace in my friends girls but when I hit 40 I decided not to wait for daughter in laws and granddaughters and just every now and then do the frilly pink stuff for myself. I reclaimed pink as my color and invited the boys to join me in the fun. sometimes they did, sometimes they didn't. but in the process they became more aware of their "femimine" side and it defused and defemenized some activities for them.
beautiful cupcakes by the way!
Aww, I'm nearing 20 and I want a party like that...
Your cupcakes are beautiful, you have amazing skill!

So cute! My daughter said we need to make these!
Wow! I love the idea of food markers. On my wish list now :)
Cute cupcakes too.
One of my close friend's daughter's birthdays is coming up soon and thanks for inspiring me :)
Simply adorable. No other words.
And I am so glad that I was blessed with a little girl. I wouldn't know the first thing about raising a boy and your have FOUR? You're like my hero.
PS--You going to BlogHer Food?
Sigh. Yes, I'm sighing right along with you at the girlie things...especially these cupcakes!!!
Totally agree with you on the AmeriColor pens...they are the best!
Did you shape your fondant and let it sit out before using the pens? I'm working up my nerve to make some! :)
Bridget - yes, I let the tea cups sit out for a day and firm up before I used the markers. You could absolutely wait longer, or even do it right away, but I was scared to handle them too much when they were soft.
Adorable!!
SO CUTE!! I love the teacups and I can't believe you had the patience to make all of them! You know... there's websites where you can buy things like that... :) Though, that would take all the fun out of it right?
these are out of this world adorable. My name being shortened to Sara T my whole life has kinda made Tea cups my "thing"? I guess. haha love these!
These are the most adorable cupcakes I have ever seen! You did an awesome job on the tea cups. I've never used food markers before... will have to add that to my list of things to try!
Vivian
very cute!! It's all boys in my house too!! I wouldn't trade them for the world..so I get my girlie fix through my cookies!!
That is soooo cute. Love the tea cups. My friend is making her daughter a Princess Castle Cake for her birthday in a couple weeks. Maybe we should add some fondant tea cups for the "princesses" in the castle :o) Just lovely!
Adorable! You are such a talented woman. You know I always thought I wasn't going to be into the 'girly' stuff with Zoe, but I am kinda looking forward to tea parties and fairies and the like :D
Absolutely beautiful! What a lucky neighbor!
Oh they are the prettiest cupcakes! I'm sure the girls loved them. Maybe some day you will have a grand daughter to share girlie stuff with. Or maybe when the boys are older and have girlfriends.
I love these! They are too cute!!!
I love the teacups! These look so cute, fantastic!
You're so awesome at this! You should totally have an Alice in Wonderland party! I'd go! :)
I cant even tell you how cute these are. Seriously... just PERFECTION!!! You are my hero!
Blessings-
AManda

Hi dear!
I absolutely love your cupcakes! simply adorable.
May i ask what kind of cream is used for piping the top of the cupcakes? thanks much! :)
They are sweet and cute until about 5 then it's all downhill. Remember? Think back...
I have one girl and twin boys. Boys are much easier and waaaaay cheaper! Oh, yeah and girls love their daddies more than their mommies. Wanna know why? 'Cause Mommy is competition! :)
The little tea cups are too sweet!
~ingrid
Hi Ellice, I used vanilla buttercream on top of the cupcakes and the tea cup is made from fondant.
I have the buttercream recipe I use posted under the "recipe" tab, if you're interested!
Thanks for all the great comments!
