So the latest addition of The Bachelorette has started. I am embarrassed to admit that while I understand that this show is ridiculous I can't stop watching.
After every season of either The Bachelor or The Bachelorette I ALWAYS say, "Never again."
And ALWAYS as soon as I see the new season commercials do I say, "Well, one more time."
The endless drama sucks you in like a toxic vacuum cleaner.
Every time I hear the contestants refer to their search for endless love as a "journey" I cringe.
A "journey"? Really?
Maybe they are referring to the "journey" from closet D-Bag to very public D-bag.
Case in point...last season's Bachelor, Jake.
I don't know if anyone saw Vienna and him do their dance on the finale of Dancing With the Stars...but, oh my.
Seriously humiliating. I felt dirty after I watched that...like I needed to get the reality stank washed out of my hair.
It was THAT bad.
So, this season is another round of The Bachelerotte. I will say that I am not a huge Ali fan. She's ahhiight, but the reason I mostly tune in is to see the grown men make complete and utter fools of themselves.
Anyone who says women are catty needs to tune in Mondays for the class A dude-drama fest.
It's sort of like National Geographic with hair product.
(insert caveman voice)
"Man fight for Woman"
"Must get final rose of night"
See, it's like a strange sociology experiment.
So whether or not you are a "Weatherman" fan (I am not) or a very suave "Roberto" fan (yes, please), we are all in for an entertaining season.
Oh and what's up with that guy who talks like Kermit the Frog?
Everybody out there who's sipping the Bachelor/Bachelorette Haterade needs to tune in so we can discuss.
Now, before you run to your dvr to set The Bachelorette up on season pass let's talk cookies...
How about these?
White Chocolate, Coconut & Lime, or for those in the know...CC&L
Summer in a cookie.
CC&L cookies
adapted from Paula Deen
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- juice of 2 limes and zest of 1 lime (zest of other lime reserved for topping)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup shredded sweetened coconut
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
Topping:
- 2 cups melted white chocolate
- 3/4 cup toasted coconut
- zest of 1 lime
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the baking powder, baking soda, flour and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy with mixer.
Beat in the eggs and vanilla and lime juice.
Add the dry ingredients and beat until just combined. Fold in the oats, shredded coconut and white chocolate chips.
Drop tablespoon sized batter 2 inches apart onto parchment paper-lined sheet pans.
Bake in a preheated oven for about 10 minutes until the bottoms of the cookies are golden brown. Remove from oven and cool completely. Makes approx. 24 cookies.
While cookies are cooling toast your coconut in a pan over medium-low heat.
Watch this carefully because once it starts toasting it will burn quickly.
Remove from heat once toasted.
When coconut is cooled mix in the zest of one lime.
When cookies have cooled melt white chocolate for topping in microwave according to directions on package.
Spread approx. 1 teaspoon of white chocolate on top of each cookie and while chocolate is wet sprinkle with coconut/lime topping.
Let chocolate set and enjoy!

OMG... thank you for sharing the recipe!
As for the Bachelorette.... I watched half of the first night... thats all I could take.
Summer in a cookies sounds delicious to me. I love citrus on cookies. Thanks for the recipe. Have a great week.
Oh, girl! We sound exactly alike! I, too, always say "never again" and yet there I sit! And I'm hoping Jake & Vienna's 15 minutes of fame are OVER. I saw them dance, to On the Wings of Love, no less, on the finale and thought it was about ridiculous. As far as Ali goes, not a big fan, and I thought the majority of guys she had to pick from looked like a bunch of tools, with the exception of Roberto. And Kermit is a good description, because I think he sounds like he was deaf at some point! Oh goodness, I could rant for awhile... but I won't! The cookies look de-lish!!!!
How many cookies does this yield? I think we all get hooked to these reality shows. There must be some reason just don't know what it is. Hooked!!
YUMMY!! And as for Bachelorette: YES Roberto...NO Weatherman...and I was wondering the same thing about Kermit Dude. Regardless of how nice a guy he is, I just couldn't listen to that every day...
Looks so fantastic! I love coconut :)
Those flavor combinations are so great. Wish I could reach out and grab a cookie.
The only (dating type) reality show I've watched(a couple of episodes at least) was "More to Love" because the bachelor(Luke Conley) is the son of my co-worker:)
These cookies look/sound fabulous! Summer is almost here and these cookies will help usher it in!
Nope, I ain't getting sucked in....I have limited free time and I'm not wasting it on that. LOL, I'll just stop here on Tuesday's and ge the lo down from you. Hee-hee!

I've been on a Real Housewives of "insert city here" kick. So really I can't say anything to your bachelorette watching. I'm sure it's awesome. In that skeevy kind of way :P
These cookies sound fantastic! My three favorite things. in one place. How good is that!
Wow! Coconut and lime, my favorites and I will be trying this. Thanks!
I always hear how hooked people get on the Bachelorette and those shows. I don't watch but I always get the blow-by-blow details from my Mom when she calls, lol.
Can you send me a dozen of these cookies? They sounds delightful.
These sound incredibly delicious. What a great combo of flavors..yum!
I watched the first couple of seasons of the Bachelor and Bachelorette and know what you mean about getting sucked in. That is why I stopped watching it. Because I know once I start watchng it again, I will not be able to stop, but it is definitely fun to watch.
what a great name for these cookies!
Love the pics. It makes me want to make some.
Oh dear, those are just sinful looking! Don't feel bad, we've all gotten sucked into the whole reality tv. I'm ashamed that I have watched every season of Big Brother thus far. I don't know why, its just addictive:)
This recipe sounds wonderful! I better not make them or I will eat them all and gain back the 25 lb. I have lost on my quest to be healthier.
As for the Bachelorette, I have never watched it and probably never will. Actually, I did see part of one, but I couldn't stand the 'slut TV'ness of it and changed the channel. I know a lot of people who watch it and are the same as you and claim they won't watch the next season, but end up doing so.
Anything lime is great with me. My hubbie thanks you for the recipe!
Great looking cookies :)
I just can't watch the bachelorette, but I can make these cookies...heavenly.
Mimi
The cookies are positively delicious! All the flavors I love. I don't watch the show but you make me want to just to see the kermit guy.
I felt the same way watching them dance on the finale of DWTS!! Wash it off! Wash it off!
I watched a little of the new Bachelorette...not sure what I think...is she annoying? Kinda...Dunno...time will tell!
Oh, and CC&L cookies look wonderful! Perfect for summer!
Yum! I just made your avalanche bars: http://www.cookiesleuth.com/2010/06/avalanche-bars.html
I can't do it. It was on the other night for about 10 seconds and that was plenty for me. ha ha!
But these cookies on the other hand look delicious. It's the topping that has me all flustered.
I'm not a fan on Ali either but I am a fan of these delicious looking cookies!
xxMK
Delightful Bitefuls
oh, the bachelorette is a guiltless guilty pleasure--indulge! great cookies, by the way. coconut and white chocolate are splendid together, and the lime is a wonderful addition!
Oh wow these cookies sound so refreshing and delicious, they have me drooling hehe!
Yum-O!! Thanks for sharing the recipe..perfect for summer. I watched a few episodes and have to stop watching..couldn't take anymore!
Oh my gosh, you weren't kidding - this really is summer in a cookie! Love the toasted coconut on top, YUM!!
I'm just thrilled to have followed you from another blog.
I have a similar cookie recipe with citrus and ricotta.
I love the ingredients you have in yours. It's a keeper...I'll have to try making these soon.
Thanks for sharing all your dedication. Love the flag below too ;o)
Flavourful wishes, Claudia
My thoughts exactly for the Bachelorette...I always get roped in each season! I think they are desperate to find love, and the guys this time are full of drama!
Your Summer cookies sound amazing! I love coconut this time of year, I just made a coconut cream pie yesterday!
Yum! These are the perfect cookie for summer. I'll have to try them. Thanks for posting.
It started?! Now I really miss tv :( Thank goodness for your site, that way I get some of the gossip on realitytv guilty pleasures. The Netherlands is the inventor of Big Brother, so as soon as I learn Dutch I will be tuning in,(shifts gaze and shakes head in own disgust...) hehehe!

ps I love lime in desserts :)
Wow!! Coconut and lime is an absolute fave combination of mine so I will definitely be bookmarking this for a later date! they look delicious!! I am drooling at that picture of the lime - I like eating them whole! haha, and I had never thought about combining those flavours with white choc before..sounds yum!
There are some real lame guys in this season of bachelorette! I am not so into Ali either. But don't worry, I will watch every epi! The cookies look amazing!!! YUUUUUUUM!
I am soooo making these this weekend. I will send you a pic!
And, let's talk the Bachelorette, do you read the blog ihategreenbeans.com? If not, you must. Hilarious recaps. I am totally pulling for guy from Cape Cod. I just think he is adorable!
PS - Do you think the guy with the voice maybe has a hearing problem???? I for sure thought they were going to say that at some point...or at least explain the voice.
Thanks Katie ~ I will check out that site!
Some people mentioned the one guy might have/had a hearing problem, but it hasn't been brought up yet. I certainly had no intention of making fun of him for a hearing loss...but The Bachelorette/Bachelor always like to "feature" contestants past hardships so it is weird that they haven't brought it up if that's the case...guess we'll all have to tune in and watch!
Those look so good. I am going to have to try those soon!
I haven't ever watched that show but I know lots of people are so into it. Your cookie looks so scrumptious. I love coconut!
Keep some CC&L for me, those look amazing! Haven't watched the Bachelorette but I get easily hooked on those so I better not even start...
These look great! The Bachelorette is also my guilty pleasure, but I have to DVR it and watch when my husband isn't home. Not only can he not stand to be in the same room when it's on, he doesn't even want to hear it! It's trashy, but I'm addicted!
Ehe, I gave up on TV years ago. Korean dramas all the way!
& that flavour combo sounds amazing. I really like that pic where you kinda break down the elements to the cookie.
